Two expensive attackers, roughly a start every four or five league games between them. For City, moving both on trims the wage bill and clears space in an overloaded forward line. For Spurs, it is a chance to buy Premier League-proven talent with no adaptation period.

What a double deal would mean for the Premier League

Business between rival Premier League clubs at this level is rare because it strengthens a direct competitor. That City are willing to entertain it says plenty about how deep their attacking options run.
